The annual Melbourne Cup Day Luncheon brought colour, laughter, and celebration to the Rainbow Bowls clubrooms on Tuesday, November 4.

A total of 55 guests attended an afternoon of fine food, friendly company and a touch of racing excitement.
Attendees, dressed to impress, enjoyed a two-course meal prepared by the dedicated Bowling Ladies, with Wayne managing the bar and floral arrangements by Marg Krelle, using blooms from the club’s own garden.
The Lady of the Day award was presented to Julie Fuller, who received a hamper and a $50 voucher from Lili Vogue Horsham, generously donated by Robyn.
Man of the Day went to Kevin Wishart from Queenscliff, while Best Hat or Fascinator was awarded to Tennille Gould.
The raffle winners were Teresa Gould, who took first prize, and Lynne Gould, who came second.
Ms Gould said the numbers were down this year, but people still had a good time.
“Melbourne Cup Luncheon is an annual event with a two-course meal... 55 men and women attended, all dressed to impress, including visitors from other towns, which is great," she said.
“A beautiful day, beautiful food, sweeps run on all races.”
Ms Gould encouraged everyone to attend the event next year.
“Mark the date next year, you won’t be disappointed, lots of fun and laughs, a gathering of young and old, men and women," she said.
“See you there, bring a friend or two.”
The day concluded with plenty of smiles, a few bets, and the traditional champagne toast.
A fitting way to celebrate Melbourne Cup Day in true community style.
