Funding for medical tour
The Eastern Hindmarsh Landcare Group received $3420 through the Murra Warra Wind Farm Community Grants program to cover the costs of their Molescan Trip to South Australia.

The Landcare group will organise a bus trip to a skin cancer clinic in Adelaide for Landcare group members and their families.
Hindmarsh Landcare Facilitator, Jonathan Starks, said the trip will provide a social connection to the members and their families alongside the health examination.
“The bus trip will be both a social occasion for our members and a medical examination to check for potentially life-threatening melanomas and other skin conditions,” he said.
“This helps the Landcare members maintain their personal health and well-being, as well as provide an important social connection for families living in an otherwise fairly isolated region of western Victoria.
“Sun exposure and the risk of melanoma is a serious health issue faced by the farming community.”
Mr Starks said more than 15 people will be positively impacted by it.
“As a small volunteer community group trying to support its members with farming, environmental, social and well-being activities, the windfarm grant is tremendously important because it means we can go ahead with our Molescan Trip and help look after our physical and mental health,” he said.
“The clinic in Adelaide is very busy, and we have booked in advance 15 appointment places for mid-March 2026, but we can book more if we get a really good response to the project.
“The clinic can accept 20 appointments.”
Ms Starks said the Landcare group is delighted to receive the community grant.
“When we heard the news, it really made our day,” he said.
“A huge thank you to the Murra Warra Wind Farm Community Grants program.”
