Gathering together

Fay Afford, representative of the Lutheran Church who hosted the World Day of Prayer 2026 Service, says the organisers were thrilled with the attendance at the World Day of Prayer last Friday, March 6.

The ecumenical event was well supported by people from local churches and beyond, and this seems to reflect a trend elsewhere, with good numbers in other towns joining together to pray for the people and country of Nigeria.

In addition to physical and prayer support, those who attended offered a financial gift to support women and children in Nigeria through a project of the Bible Society there.

$174 will be joining other money raised around Australia and the world.

A highlight was joining the students from St Joseph’s Catholic School for a morning tea at the conclusion of the service.

Next year promises to be a big year as it will be the 100th anniversary of World Day of Prayer, and it is hoped that this wonderful event will continue long into the future.
