Get your hands dirty for a cause
FREE TO READ: The Horsham District Landcare Network group will plant 3,000 native plants and shrubs over two days in Arapiles this weekend, aiming to increase biodiversity in the area and encourage community participation.

The 'Community Planting Weekend Arapiles' event is happening on two private properties at the Arapiles, which is why registration is mandatory for the participants.
Currently, the group has 15 to 20 volunteers, but local landcare facilitator Jen Gao is calling on community members to join and help the cause.
"We encourage community members to come forward in the tree plantation event," she said.
"This revegetation project intends to provide habitat to native animals and increase biodiversity in the area.
"This social event will bring the people together, and attendees will have a chance to contribute towards mitigating climate change.
"It's an opportunity for the people to contribute towards the environment."
People need to bring their gloves, water bottle and wear weather-appropriate clothing, including sun protection and wet-weather gear.
Lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided to the attendees by the organisers.
The program will run from 9am on Saturday, July 19, to 4pm on Sunday, July 20.
Wimmera CMA supports this revegetation project with funding from Victorian Landcare Grants.
Interested people can register for the event by visiting www.events.humanitix.com/community-planting-weekend-arapiles.
The exact meeting location will be emailed to registered attendees by the Landcare group.
