Local talents are ready to grace the stage at Horsham Town Hall for the upcoming 'Godspell' production by Horsham Arts Council (HAC).

'Godspell' is a vibrant and uplifting retelling of the Gospel according to Matthew, brought to life through a diverse blend of musical styles, heartfelt storytelling and joyful celebration.

First-time director Stacey Brennan said everything is on track, ready for when the curtain lifts on opening night.

“Now it’s just time to keep going through it and into the nitty-gritty of it all," she said.

Following the revised 2012 version, this production of 'Godspell' features all cast members on stage the entire time.

"It's a different show," she said.

“It was harder for them to grasp because there are lots of little stories, because it follows the bible."

Retired pastor Simon Risson attended a sit-down with the cast to discuss the story and answer any questions they had about it.

"It was great for Simon to come in," Ms Brennan said.

Utilising the access of a live band, three band members who did the 2012 show are taking part in their second rendition.

“It's good to see the band come back,” Ms Brennan said.

Assistant director Simon Dandy encourages everyone to come along to see the show.

“It’s fun and funny, no matter your background, come along,” he said.

“It’s a show for everyone and it has a great message."

Both Ms Brennan and Mr Dandy praised the work of the production team and cast members.

“The talent that this cast has is extraordinary,” Mr Dandy said.

“It’s definitely a value for money and it’s great to support local theatre."

Ms Brennan said, “The cast is fantastic and experienced as they have all done HAC shows before".

HAC's 'Godspell' opens on October 10 and is scheduled to close on October 19, with tickets now on sale.
