GWMWater to replace Nhill Water Tank
GWMWater has progressed plans to replace a Nhill water tank, the original 1.8 megalitre tank failing catastrophically about 6.30am on March 12, releasing a torrent of water that damaged a nearby home and briefly required the town’s residents to conserve water.

GWMWater said it wanted to reinforce “its commitment to reliable water infrastructure for the local community”.
The new tank will be built on the same site and will match the original capacity.
Tendering was expected to begin in late August, with construction scheduled to start before summer.
The replacement tank will be supported by upgraded foundations and built to current design standards, with additional reinforcement to enhance long-term resilience and performance.
“Ensuring a safe and secure water supply for Nhill and surrounding areas remains a top priority,” GWMWater managing director, Mark Williams said.
“This project is a key step in strengthening our infrastructure and supporting the community’s future needs.”
GWMWater said they will provide an update when construction is due to start.
