Harness racing returns to Stawell

District stables are well represented as per usual and look to have good chances to pick up stakesmoney in most events.

The recently renovated Trackside Bar & Bistro will be in full swing with a full lunch menu and the place to be, no matter the weather.

Lois and her team have a delicious silverside planned as a race day special - call 5358 1237 to book your table.

The day's racing will also be live-streamed, free on your device on Trots Vision.

Kewell owner-trainer Daryl Prosser was rewarded for his patience with Ataboy Charlie when the five-year-old gelding took out the Vale Les Chapman Forever In Trotting handicap at Maryborough on September 8.

Driver Michael Bellman got his charge away smartly from the 10m handicap, and Ataboy Charlie strode to the lead as they headed into the first turn.

Prosser's Squaregaiter never missed a beat from thereon and cruised to the line 12m clear of his rivals in a rate of 2:05.7 for the 2190m journey.

The experienced horseman took over the son of What The Hill (USA) from trainer Chris Svanosio about 12 months ago.

A single win at Ballarat from 11 starts was enough for the leading Romsey stable to move the horse on.

Monday's win for Prosser was well deserved, coming after 18 tries and a frustrating seven, minor placings.

To do it in style, first up from a couple of months' absence, suggests it won't be too long before "Charlie" posts another.

Horsham owner-trainer Aaron Dunn also made the Maryborough winner's circle on September 8 after Maxy Can Dance got the judge's nod in a tight finish to the Vital Signs 3YO Pace.

Poised one out, two back at the bell, Dunn let rip at the 700m mark and raced clear in an attempt to steal the race.

The effort told over the final stages, but on the line, "Maxy" had the barest of margins from Delightful Miki (Ellen Tormey).

It was a brave effort by the gelding to hold on at his first outing for six months, and the son of A Rocknroll Dance (USA) is sure to strip much fitter next time.

The Andrews family bred Maxy Can Dance from the Shadow Play (USA) mare Miss Potential, which also left the very smart pacer Nikkibadwagon, which won 11 in the Dunn colours.

Deep Lead trainer Marnie Bibby has her 6yo mare Starzinhereyes racing in career best form with a win at Echuca on Tuesday night, coming a week after success at Terang.

Holding the lead easily from the pole, driver Luke Dunne elected to hand up after they'd gone a lap in an attempt to get his charge to settle on the back of the $2.20 favourite.

Karuma Kev with James Herbertson aboard.

Now racing more kindly, the two horses cleared out from the rest of the field with 200m to go, and Dunne eased away from the pegs to make his bid. Starzinhereyes proved too strong over the final stages and scored by 2.1m in a rate of 1:58.6 for the 2160m journey, her 9th career victory.

They're off @ Stawell (D) Monday, September 15, Charlton (D) Monday, September 29, and Horsham (D) Monday, October 6.
