Several allied health team members from the Horsham campus and a clinical nurse educator were on site to discuss career pathways with students from across the region.

The allied health team also spoke about their various roles at a dedicated seminar, and pointed out the increased opportunities through working in rural and regional health compared to city services, such as the variety of skills needed in the bush compared to city services where staff were generally limited to specialist roles.

At the Grampians Health site, clinical nurse educator Deidre Harrington spoke with students about the various opportunities available to nurses in regional health services, and encouraged them to apply for work experience at their local health provider.

Grampians Health careers advisor Andrew Vague said events such as the Western Victorian Careers Expo were important to the health services.

“They give us the opportunity to engage directly with our future workforce,” Mr Vague said.

“I strongly believe that current team members presenting and talking with students is the best way to promote health care pathways and employment opportunities at Grampians Health.”
