Hopetoun community garden
Members of the Hopetoun Community Garden have been very disappointed and annoyed at the amount of their produce disappearing from the garden.

There have been many pumpkins growing recently, and over time, many of them have vanished even before they are ready for picking.
Zucchinis, watermelons and even cash from the locked cashbox have also gone missing.
Even a sign on the gate and in the garden beds has proven ineffective at keeping the produce in the garden.
Although it is a community garden, only garden members who pay their fee are allowed to pick their produce to share with others, if they choose to, or to allow their friends and relatives to pick it.
Members give a big thumbs down to those who do the wrong thing.
However, new members are always welcome.
The cost is only $10 per year, and this gives the member a garden bed to plant whatever they choose.
Very informal monthly meetings are held, with plenty of chatting over a cuppa and treats.
The focus is on being a social group; therefore, it is not necessary to be a gardener to join.
