Hopetoun P-12 wrap-up: Term 3 Week 1

Hopetoun P-12 College proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week during the first week of Term 3.
This included a range of activities that recognised and celebrated the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
On Monday, 13th July, students kicked off the week by taking part in a colouring competition, where the winners will be announced on Monday, the 20th of July.
There are prizes for winners for the Junior Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, and Staff.
On Tuesday, the whole school came together for a Pastoral Care session where students worked in buddy groups to colour sections of a large collaborative artwork that will be proudly displayed in the entrance to the school.
Wednesday saw students enjoy a variety of creative craft activities, consisting of decorating Boomerangs, coasters, and colouring in the pictures for the colouring competition.
Thursday featured story time, allowing students to learn through Indigenous stories and traditions.
The celebrations concluded on Friday with students watching the AFL Dreamtime game, recognising the significant contribution of First Nations peoples to Australian football.
Throughout the week, students have had the opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as a school community.
Hopetoun P-12 College also celebrated the official opening of its new Multi-Purpose Court, an exciting achievement for both the school and the local community.
It was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with School Council President Bridget Williams doing the honours.
The new facility gives students a modern space to play a range of sports, take part in physical education classes, and come together for school events.
It will encourage students to stay active, work as a team, and build a stronger connection to school spirit.
This important upgrade shows the college's commitment to giving students better opportunities to learn, play, and connect with others in a positive environment.
