Year 10 Snow Camp

Last week, the Year 10 students attended the Bogong Outdoor School (Snow Camp), which is situated in the Alps of North East Victoria.

The program, Winter Connect, is for young individuals to experience the Alpine environment, whilst learning about how to maintain the snow, and to save the winter season for all the snow lovers.

We got to explore climate change on a deeper level and were exposed to different cuisines (like Indigenous night, where we got to try kangaroo burritos).

We experienced a no-power night, with burgers, and a vegan night, with a vegan curry that everyone enjoyed.

The skiing resort we got to explore left everybody in awe, with breathtaking views no matter where you were on the mountain.

We tried two different types of skiing, namely cross-country and downhill.

The downhill was a crowd favourite, partially due to the awesome chairlifts, while cross country was more of a hard-working, hiking-type skiing.

Overall, it was an amazing opportunity, with the Year 10s having an absolute blast all week.

Many stated their willingness to return to the Alpine environment in their own time!

Man Cave

On Tuesday, August 19, the Year 9 and 10 boys participated in a program called Man Cave.

Man Cave is all about expressing yourself and learning about each other's emotions and how to help others when they are in need.

We took part in fun activities that required teamwork and skills to complete.

The day was great for learning about how to try to help others and ways you can ask for help if you need it.

A big thank you to the members of Man Cave, Ethan and Jehan, for spending the day with us to teach us about their program.

We all enjoyed it very much and had a lot of fun playing games and learning things that can be used to help others.

Posy Project

On Tuesday, August 19, the Year 9 and 10 girls participated in the Posy Project all day with Meg.

The Posy Project is all about recognising the values that most represent you and how important they are.

We were shown how important they are through playing Jenga and only being allowed to remove the painted pieces that represented our values.

We found it difficult to play that way, but when we played again, we left the painted blocks on the bottom and played like normal, which was much easier than before.

This was all done before recess, and when we came back, we started talking about social media and how it can impact us and how girls are impacted living in rural areas.
