Georgia Foster stole the show at the SA Athletics Stadium, winning four medals across her four events, including becoming the Australian U15 national 200m champion.

She competed in four different events and won the 200m, was a member of the winning 4x100m relay and earned second place in the Swedish relay and third in the 100m.

Foster was left stunned by her 200m win.

“I kind of crossed the line and I didn’t really believe it had happened,” she said.

“I was very shocked, to say the least.”

Reflecting on her success, she said she hadn’t had time for it to sink in fully.

“It obviously happened really fast and there was a lot of adrenaline that came with it, so I haven’t really had time for it to soak in, but I’m pretty proud of myself.”

Looking ahead, she said she planned to explore Victorian Athletic League competitions.

“I’ll probably do lots of gifts next year,” she said.

“I’m not sure yet where it will lead but I love sport.”

Foster was the youngest in this year's open women’s 120m Stawell Gift, finishing fifth.

Teammate Jett Hill also impressed on the national stage at the weekend, winning a silver medal in the medley relay and a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay.

He also finished fourth in the 400m and seventh in the 200m.

“I was in four events, and I got two medals – a silver and a bronze,” Hill said.

“Now it’s just kind of in the past but I was just excited.”

It was Hill’s first national-level competition, having previously competed only at state level.

When asked if he planned to pursue athletics further, he confidently replied, “Yeah, definitely.”

Peta Bond, proud mum of Georgia and president of Horsham Little Athletics, said she was thrilled by the pair’s achievements.

“As a mum I’m so excited as we went in with absolutely no expectations,” she said.

“To win the state championship was amazing, but to back it up with a national title – I was so proud.

“As president of Horsham Little Athletics, to have two athletes come home with six medals is just so exciting.

“This is huge for the Wimmera region.”

Despite having limited facilities in Horsham, Bond praised the hard work and dedication of all local athletes.

“They’ve just worked so hard to achieve this and we hope to see lots more kids join next season,” she said.

Member associations across Australia sent teams to compete in the various age groups at the ALAC.
