Horsham Golf remain undefeated
Four rounds into the Wimmera Lawn Bowls Pennant competition, Horsham Golf remain the only unbeaten team in division one after defeating Dimboola 83-40.
Playing at home, the rink one Horsham Golf team, including Ross Barnett, Stephen Harris and Geoffrey Bald and skippered by Ash Batchelor, overcame Dimboola’s previously undefeated rink of Judith Albrecht, Robert Pyers, Joshua Cook and skipper Daniel Danisch 23-14.
Horsham Golf’s rink two team of Robert Grieger, Ken McClelland, Danny Schmidt and skipper Bradley Robinson were too strong for Dimboola’s Mary Argall, Shirley Thomas, Wayne Albrecht and Alan Krahe as they won 39-8.
Skipper Graeme O’Connor’s third rink team of Adam Galpin, Hayden Tucker and Denis Ballinger made it a clean sweep as they won 21-18 over Dimboola’s Darryl Argall, Greg Cook, Peter O'Loughlin and skipper Darryl Both.
Nhill won two out of the three rinks to earn their second consecutive victory, 86-55 over Goroke Edenhope at Nhill.
Nhill’s rink one team, skippered by Darren Gebert and consisting of Ryder Byrnes, Roger Brown and Greg Ryan, won 29-12.
They defeated Goroke Edenhope’s team of Craig Smith, Wayne Caldow and Bruce Ackland, skippered by Phillip Robinson.
Nhill’s rink three side of Ray Olney, Barry Cramer, Ivan Reichelt and skipper Allan King defeated Goroke Edenhope’s rink of John Moloney, Travis Crawford, Joel Lowe and skipper Hugh Caldow 34-18.
The visitors’ rink two team of Richard Smith, Barry Crick, Trevor Mulraney and skipper Geoff Lowe beat Nhill’s team of Nicholas Robins, Matthew Morrison, Brad Blackwood and skipper Kevin Jones in a 25-23 thriller.
At Kaniva, the hosts finished with a comprehensive 80-50 victory over Sunnyside.
Rink one finished with a 24-24 tie, as Kaniva’s team of Robert Puglisi, Timothy Meyer, Malcolm Coutts and skipper Jeffrey Meyer went up against Sunnyside’s Rod Skurrie, Barry McIntrye, Rex Bergen and skipper Dale McRae.
Kaniva’s rink two team of Steve Duthie, Paul Pearson, Russell Crouch and skipper Adrian Coad defeated Sunnyside’s rink of Debra MacInnes, Norma Hair, Stuart Cowan and skipper John Ackland 23-18.
Kaniva rink three team of Darren Maddern, Tyler Cooper and Christopher La Rocca, skippered by Bruce Dodson, secured the overall victory as they beat Sunnyside’s rink three side of Paul Southcott, Jillian Coutts, Roger MacInnes and skipper Chris Trotter 33-8.
Coughlin Park ended Horsham City’s previously undefeated start to the season with a tight 84-74 victory at home.
The home side’s rink one team of Terry Sartori, Allan Thompson, Rowan Hawkins and skipper Michael Ellis beat Horsham City’s side of Peter Cooper, Derek Ballinger, Geoffrey Inglis and skipper Ron Dolby 27-20.
Rink three saw Coughlin Park’s side of Timothy Nihill, Peter Beasley, Kevin Cramer and skipper Craig Decker win 35-27 over Horsham City’s Duncan Bottoms, John Burchell, Bruce Campbell and skipper Anthony King.
Horsham City’s rink two side of Douglas Mitchell, Graham McDonald, Kevin Smith and Kevin Clyne produced a 27-22 victory over Coughlin Park’s team of Colin Weir, Paul O'Shannessy and Robert Mewburn, skippered by Robin Shaw.
In division two, Horsham Golf and Coughlin Park remain undefeated, as Horsham Golf beat Dimboola 74-62 and Coughlin Park defeated Goroke Edenhope 85-59 in an away fixture.
Nhill defeated Natimuk 79-50 while Sunnyside overcame Horsham City 79-56.
In division three Nhill Three remain on top of the ladder after their 72-36 win over Horsham Golf.
In other fixtures, Coughlin Park four defeated Horsham City in a 60-59 thriller, Kaniva beat Coughlin Park Three 62-62 in another tight contest and Sunnyside defeated Nhill Four 75-58.
