Horsham Golf undefeated after five tight rounds
Horsham Golf have continued its dominant start to the Wimmera weekend pennant division one competition, winning its fifth straight match in round five on Saturday, November 1.
In a competitive round of matches, Goroke Edenhope, Coughlin Park and Dimboola also produced wins.
At Goroke, the home side won all three rinks over Sunnyside to win 78-62.
Rink one saw Richard Smith, Barry Crick, Trevor Mulraney and skipper Geoff Lowe defeat Sunnyside’s rink one team of Paul Southcott, Roger MacInnes, Chris Trotter and Gavin Watson.
Goroke Edenhope’s rink two team of Roger Osborn, Travis Crawford, Terry Exell, skippered by Hugh Caldow, defeated Sunnyside’s Debra MacInnes, Norma Hair, Stuart Cowan and skipper John Ackland 28-20.
In a tight rink three contest, Goroke Edenhope’s team of Craig Smith, Wayne Caldow, Bruce Ackland, skippered by Phillip Robinson, defeated Sunnyside’s team of Rod Skurrie, Barry McIntyre, and Rex Bergen, skippered by Dale McRae, 26-25.
Playing at home, Coughlin Park registered a 73-69 victory over reigning premiers Nhill.
Rink one saw Couchlin Park’s team of Terry Sartori, Allan Thompson, and Rowan Hawkins, skippered by Michael Ellis, defeat Nhill’s Ray Olney, Barry Cramer, and Ivan Reichelt, skippered by Allan King, 29-15.
Nhill’s rink two team of Ryder Byrnes, Roger Brown, Greg Ryan, skippered by Darren Gebert, had a 34-20 win over Coughlin Park’s Colin Weir, Robert Mewburn, Robin Shaw, and skipper Charles Officer.
Coughlin Park’s rink three team of Damian Bryan, Peter Beasley, Kevin Cramer and skipper Craig Decker secured the victory over Nhill’s team of Matthew Morrison, Colin Alexander, Brad Blackwood and skipper Kevin Jones, winning 24-20.
All three of Horsham Golf’s rinks produced wins in the side’s 77-52 home defeat of Kaniva.
Rink one saw Horsham Golf’s team of Ross Barnett, Stephen Harris, and Geoffrey Bald, skippered by Ash Batchelor, just win 23-22 over Kaniva’s team of Darren Maddern, Tyler Cooper, Chris La Rocca and skipper Bruce Dodson.
Horsham Golf’s rink two team of Adam Galpin, Ken McClelland, and Danny Schmidt, skippred by Bradley Robinson, defeated Kaniva’s team of Paul Pearson, Timothy Meyer, Malcolm Coutts, skippered by Jeffrey Meyer, 27-20.
Horsham Golf won rink three 27-10, with the team of Hayden Tucker, Denis Ballinger, Graeme O’Connor and skipper Gavin Walter beating out Kaniva’s Steve Duthie, Janet Kuchel and Russell Couch, skippered by Adrian Coad.
At Horsham City, Dimboola overcame the home side 79-68 to win their second match of the season.
Dimboola snatched the rink one 22-21, as his team of Greg Cook, Wayne Albrecht, and Don Connors, skippered by Alan Krahe, defeated Horsham City’s Duncan Bottoms, John Burchell, Bruce Campbell, and skipper Anthony King.
Rink two saw Dimboola’s team of Judith Albrecht, Robert Pyers, and Joshua Cook, skippered by Daniel Danisch, overcame Derek Ballinger, Geoffrey Inglis, and William Hogan, skippered by Ron Dolby, 30-24.
Dimboola’s rink three team of Darryl Argall, Shannon Williams, Darryl Both and skipper Peter O’Loughlin made it a perfect three from three for the visitors with their 27-23 win over Horsham City’s team of Douglas Mitchell, Graham McDonald, and Kevin Smith, skippered by Kevin Clyne.
In division two, Coughlin Park continued their undefeated start to the season as they defeated Dimboola 67-59.
Horsham Golf also remain unbeaten as they overcame Nhill 74-59.
In other fixtures, Sunnyside defeated Natimuk 70-63 and Horsham City beat Goroke Edenhope 111-30.
In division three matches, Coughlin Park's four handed Nhill three their first loss of the season, winning 66-64, while Coughlin Park's three defeated Nhill's four 105-30.
In other matches, Kaniva defeated Horsham Golf 76-46, and Horsham City beat Sunnyside 56-55.
