Volunteers dedicated three days to collecting donations and received strong support from the community.

Horsham branch of the Red Cross secretary Cheryl Linke said, “Horsham Red Cross volunteers were there for all three days for the calling".

“We are a small group with many who have various health issues, but most people turned up for the annual call," she said.

“Community supported us a lot. People came up to us and willingly gave us the donations.”

The Red Cross will use the funds to support Australians in need, including those affected by floods, fires, and other emergencies.

Ms Linke thanked the community for its generosity.

“I am thankful to the community for supporting the appeal and ensuring the money will be well spent by Red Cross on the people in need," she said.

Ms Linke said the Red Cross continues accepting donations for Queensland flood victims.

Those who want to contribute can visit www.redcross.org.au or over the phone on 1300 RED CROSS.

The Horsham Red Cross branch meets every fourth Tuesday of the month in the Senior Citizens Hall on Roberts Avenue at 1.30pm.
