Horsham to host junior state champs
Some of the best state and national junior riders will be on show in Horsham for round three of the Peter Stevens Motorcycles Junior Victorian State Championships, taking place at Horsham Motorcycle Club this Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31.
President Jason Thomas said he was excited for the club to yet again host and showcase high-level junior racing.
“The club's used to running big events, so everyone gets in, pulls together and gets the job done,” Thomas said.
“We’re expecting around 250 riders aged from six to 17 years old riding on 50cc to 250cc bikes.
“As well as club members and others in the region, we’ve got riders coming from nearly every state in Australia.”
Among the standout riders competing will be junior national champion Mason Ezergailis and junior national medallist Jobe Dunne.
With the rain having largely held off, Thomas said the track should be in good condition.
“We got 24 millimetres the week before so that was a lot of work,” he said.
“But we’ve been prepping during the week and everything’s gone our way, so hopefully it will be good for the weekend.”
At the Dooen track, the action will kick off from 8.30am on both Saturday and Sunday, with competition expected to last all day.
Along with free entry, spectators will have access to the club canteen and a coffee vendor, and Spuddy Good will be serving up dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.
