Jarrod Risson takes on new church role
Horsham Church of Christ has a new senior pastor.
Jarrod Risson will replace his brother Simon Risson, who retired in September after more than 22 years at the church.
Jarrod Risson was formerly associate pastor and will commence in his new role later this month.
An extensive process to find a new senior pastor resulted in Mr Risson's appointment. Church leaders have not released information on the number of people who applied for the position or the number interviewed.
Jarrod and wife Narelle, who is an events coordinator for the many external groups which use the church facilities, have four children: Annabel, Adelaide, Olivia, Thomas and Sophie.
Mr Risson has been a pastor at the church for 13 years with a break in 2015-16 when the family spent a year in the US where Mr Risson attended Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry at Redding in California. Two years in Adelaide followed before he again took up a pastor's role in the Horsham church.
"This is both scary and exciting," Mr Risson said after his appointment. "It's a privilege to have this role and I'm honoured by the opportunity to lead this church. It's in a good position to grow and move forward.
"We have a great church community with lots of potential."
His new role means overseeing areas previously not included in his role as associate pastor.
Tanika Thorne remains generations pastor, but church leaders are yet to announce whether they plan to find a new associate pastor.
The church's busy programs schedule includes: children's and teenagers' groups-River Kids and River Youth, Mainly Music for pre-school children, seniors group Upper Class, weekly handicraft session-Crafty Friends, One Heart migrant group, midweek home-based Life groups and scheduled prayer gatherings.
