Juniors bounce back to action
The Horsham Junior Cricket Association competition recommenced on Saturday, January 31, with the Bullants, Horsham Saints and Horsham Tigers all recording victories in the under-14 competition.
The Friday night under-12 and under-16 competitions were cancelled due to the heat.
At Minyip Recreation Reserve on Saturday morning, the Dunmunkle Renegades elected to bowl against the Bullants, who totalled 5/139 from their 20 overs.
Thomas Combe (22), Oscar Combe (20), Milton Ellis (19) and Jack Arnel (16) all retired not out.
For the Renegades, Riley Trotter (1/8) and Judd Thomson (1/10) were among the most economical wicket takers.
In response, the Renegades finished their innings at 7/72.
Eddie Frost led the way for the side with 16 runs, with solid contributions from Braxton Starick (13) and Judd Thomson (12 not out).
Zavier Lang (2/2) and Louie Tucker (2/8) both claimed two wickets for the Bullants, while Judd Oakley finished with an impressive 1/1 from two overs in the victory.
At Davis Park, West Wimmera elected to bowl against the Saints, who scored 7/117.
Daniel Dossett retired not out with 21 off just 12 deliveries, with solid knocks of 16 not out from Max Sproule and 14 from Max Barber.
For the Warriors, Tom Warner produced an impressive 2/3 with the ball and also had a runout, while Clayton Hiscock had 1/8.
The Warriors would then fall 10 runs short in their run chase as they were bowled out for 107 in the 19th over.
Nate Clugston led the home side’s efforts with 23 runs, while Oakley Moylan had 13 not out.
Jack Sawyer starred for the Saints with figures of 2/6, and Kurt Phillips-Hay had 2/17.
At Dimboola Road Oval, the Blackheath Dimboola Bulls elected to bowl against the Tigers, who managed 5/127.
Tex Askew hit a big-hitting 21 off 9 balls as he retired not out, along with Arkie Mackley (20) and Peter Smith (18).
For the Bulls, Xavier Clugston (1/8) and Mila Ward (1/14) were among the wicket takers.
Despite solid innings of 30 from Edward Schorback and 12 not out from Archie Ward, the Bulls were bowled out for 79.
For the Tigers, Felix Foster claimed all three of his wickets in one over to finish with 3/10, while Tex Askew backed up his performance with the bat to finish with 2/11 with the ball.
