Lakers claim hard-fought win against Pimpinio
Taylors Lake demonstrated their resilience and determination by clinching a crucial away victory against Pimpinio in a match played under challenging conditions.
The combined efforts of Tayla Eltze (22 goals), Harriet Overman (15), and Sharon Fedke (11) were instrumental in Taylors Lake's 45-55 triumph.
Fedke said it was a phenomenal team effort, given the hot conditions.
“In all my years of playing in the weather, I've never played on a day like that,” she said.
“Both teams did so well to play under those conditions.
“We have a squad of 10; we definitely needed those rotations, although there's a couple of girls, I didn't really give much of a break… they're young and fit, so they'll be right.”
Fedke praised the hard work of midcourter Mia McGrath, who ran hard through the centre all game.
“She played centre all game, except for a little bit where I changed her into wing attack,” she said.
“Mia McGrath was a standout yesterday. I was just so super impressed with Mia and how she played yesterday.
“Honestly, every single one of them, whether they started or were on the bench, went on there with a job to do.”
After starting the game at goal defence on Overman, Pimpinio’s Ada Binney switched to the front court and scored 25 for the Tigers.
Janae Slorach added 19 goals, while Tilli Menzel and Jayde Ellis were named in the side’s best.
