Late David Heard awarded OAM for community radio service
The late David Heard was posthumously awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his services to community radio.

A former Wimmera resident, he helped found the Progressive Broadcasting Service Cooperative, an independent community radio station in Collingwood.
He broadcast at the station from 1979 to 2021 and was best known for hosting the Acid Country show.
In 2013, the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia recognised him for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution. In 2014, he was named City of Yarra Citizen of the Year.
A PBS spokesperson noted that Mr Heard was known for his modesty and for never centring conversations on himself.
“For [David], it was always about the artists and the music,” they said.
