Lions clubs celebrate year of service
The Warracknabeal and Brim Lions Clubs came together to celebrate a stellar 12 months at a combined changeover dinner. President David Mansfield highlighted the year of achievements, highlighted by successful fundraisers and community outreach.

“We had a great year and another busy year with plenty happening,” he said.
“There were street markets, wood raffles, hospital visits at Christmas time and plenty to do at the Lions park.
“We hosted barbecues at the races, parked horse floats, and got horses in and out.”
He thanked all members for their dedication across the past 12 months, especially those who stepped up while he took an extended holiday in Queensland.
Mr Mansfield will remain as president of the Warracknabeal Lions Club for another year, with Alan Smith continuing as vice president.
Emma Mansfield will remain the club’s secretary, with treasurer added to her portfolio.
Outgoing Brim Lions Club president Max Golder thanked the club for their ongoing support, which included maintaining the public spaces.
“We continue to keep the cemetery neat and tidy, and the residents are pleased as there are no complaints,” he said.
“We continue maintaining Reddas Park with one of the new members diligently keeping the toilets and BBQ area spotless and making sure rubbish bins are out on collection days with the help of others.
“New Year's Eve at Reddas Park was very successful with a raft regatta, kids colouring corner, pony rides, coffee van, yabby races, followed with a barbecue and music by a couple of local musicians finishing the night with a spectacular fireworks display.”
Mr Golder sincerely thanked secretary Matt Crisp and treasurer Aaron Boyd for their ongoing work and Peter King for his work in the vice president role.
Colleen McPherson will lead the Brim Lions Club for the next 12 months, with Shane Wardle voted in as vice president.
“A special thanks to the Lions for the outstanding and tireless work they do around the town to make it a pleasurable place to live and visit,” Mr Golder said.
“Finally, I wish all incoming office bearers an enjoyable and happy year as this is my last year in office.”
