Children’s author Jodi Toering visited Warracknabeal Library on Monday to promote her new book, Night Watch.

Ms Toering was born in Hopetoun and grew up in Beulah, aspiring to be a teacher, a back-up singer, and an author of children’s books.

She has achieved all three.

Night Watch follows a Tawny Frogmouth as he gracefully sweeps through the night skies checking on all of Australia’s native animals as they sleep.

Ms Toering said the book was also a metaphor, “an ode to parents and caregivers everywhere, always keeping watch on a nightly vigil, checking on their beautiful babies and children throughout the night.”

Night Watch is Ms Toering’s second children's book, with beautiful illustrations, for this and her first book Mallee Sky, by Tannya Harricks.
