Local recognised with alumni award
Warracknabeal local Mandy Bryce was a finalist for Victoria University's (VU) prestigious 'Lifetime Achievement Alumni Award' in November.

The award is presented at the Student Leadership and Alumni Awards Ceremony, where it recognises alumni who are making a powerful and positive difference in the community and beyond.
Through VU, Ms Bryce completed both a Graduate Diploma in Aged Services and a Graduate Certificate in Aged Services in 2005, followed by a Master of Health Science (Aged Services) in 2006.
She had worked as a registered nurse and at Grampians Health's Dimboola Campus and Rural Northwest Health in a career spanning more than 45 years.
Her loyal commitment to healthcare has seen Ms Bryce focus on seniors, the aged and women's health, and she has introduced innovative programs in aged care, including improving dementia care and assessment processes for older patients.
Throughout her career Ms Bryce has held many leadership positions, including as a quality co-ordinator, a clinical nurse consultant and a nurse unit manager, across diverse healthcare settings.
Through this she has guided many allied health workers in advancing their own careers.
Other than her dedicated commitment to her work, Ms Bryce has taken on volunteer roles, such as a first responder community officer for Ambulance Victoria for more than two decades.
She has also led fundraising initiatives and has participated in many community events.
Ms Bryce has previously been a recipient of an international humanitarian award for her advocacy efforts pushing for substantial improvements in health systems, particularly in aged care and emergency services.
