Locals planted more than 2200 plants
The Rainbow and district community have come out and planted more than 2200 plants at the Rainbow Rises, the yearly Enduro events site on Saturday, August 16.

The Rainbow and District Landcare Group initially scheduled the tree plantation on July 26, but it was postponed due to wet weather.
The Landcare group president, Bruce Heinrich, said it turned out to be a nice day.
“The event was postponed due to cold, wet weather three weeks ago, and that rain probably helped set up the area for planting,” he said.
“We were supported on the day by Zoos Victoria with Boobialla plants and planting; the Hindmarsh Shire, with their water truck for watering.
“And the Eckermann family provided two side-by-side vehicles.”
“The Landcare group wants to thank all those members and community members who came out, twenty in all, which is a good number.”
The Rainbow Rises Committee fed the volunteers with hot soup and salad rolls and also provided a delicious evening meal.
“It is still a bit dry out there,” Mr Heinrich said.
“We know we will have to do follow-up watering, and we have asked the local Rainbow Men’s Community Shed group to help us with that over spring and summer.
“We held back some small plants for later planting, so we will be back out on the site in a few weeks’ time.
“We are also focused on keeping the rabbits out of the area.”
The Rainbow and District Landcare Group acknowledged its sponsors.
The project was supported by funding through the Victorian Government’s Victorian Landcare Program.
