Students from across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania arrived for O‑Week activities ahead of formal classes, which commenced on February 9.

Marketing and Business Development Coordinator Brad Barber said the new intake reflects a broad cross‑section of the agricultural community.

“We have students from a wide range of backgrounds, cattle, sheep, broadacre cereals, potatoes, rice, irrigation, as well as those who have never lived on a farm but are eager to build a career in agriculture,” he said.

“This diversity brings a wealth of knowledge, experiences, ideas and perspectives to the College.

"O‑Week plays an important role in helping students connect with their peers before the academic year gets underway.”

Longerenong College offers two courses per year, including the Certificate IV in Agriculture, Certificate IV in Wool Classing, Diploma of Applied Agronomy, and its highest qualification, the Advanced Diploma in Agribusiness Management.

The College continues to benefit from strong partnerships with leading agricultural businesses, providing students with valuable industry exposure and insight into the future of farming.

Meanwhile, February and March have continued to be among the busiest months on campus, with Longerenong College students once again lending a hand to their neighbours at the Wimmera Machinery Field Days.

The students assist with preparations for one of Victoria’s largest agricultural machinery exhibitions.

WMFD Events Manager Vanessa Lenehan said the collaboration is an important part of the event’s success.

“It’s important to get Longerenong College students involved," she said.

"We’re proud of the College and what it brings to the region.

“Both Longerenong College and the Wimmera Machinery Field Days have a long history of showcasing the latest advancements in agriculture and ag‑tech to the next generation of industry professionals, so it makes sense to work together.”

This year’s Field Days will host more than 400 exhibitors, with live paddock demonstrations running across all three days on one of the College’s adjoining paddocks.
