Longerenong Open Day draws interstate interest
A wet winter morning did little to dampen enthusiasm at Longerenong College's Open Day on Sunday. A strong crowd of prospective students and their families travelled from Victoria and South Australia to explore opportunities at the renowned agricultural college.
Visitors spent the day learning about the college's courses and accommodation options, speaking with trainers and current students, touring the campus, and inspecting the working farm.
Longerenong College representatives said the event attracted families from many regions, highlighting the ongoing demand for practical, industry-focused agricultural education.
"Families travelled from all over Victoria and South Australia to attend," a college spokesperson said.
"We had plenty from the Wimmera Mallee, Bendigo and Hamilton regions.
"Others made the long trek from Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula, while some travelled across from South Australia's Yorke Peninsula and Barossa Valley."
The college's unique offering continues to attract students seeking a clear pathway into the agricultural industry.
"What we offer is quite unique," the spokesperson said.
"Students have the opportunity to gain four nationally recognised qualifications in agriculture, agronomy, wool classing and agribusiness over two years.
"Students can live on campus, make lasting friendships with like-minded people and build valuable connections with major industry leaders in agriculture."
Longerenong College has built a strong reputation for combining hands-on learning with industry engagement, preparing graduates for a wide range of careers across the agricultural sector.
Following the success of Sunday's Open Day, the college is accepting applications for its 2027 intake. Prospective students are encouraged to enquire early about courses, accommodation, and enrolment.
