Hopetoun’s Power House Studio will host the Mallee Makers Market and Expo on June 13.

Visitors to the market, which will be held in the Power House studio on Saturday, June 13, from 10am to 2pm, will be able to observe and participate in crafts such as spinning fleece with ex-Hopetoun resident Robyn Afford, now from Echuca.

We are also fortunate to be presenting a demonstration of felting alpaca wool with ex-Yaapeet resident Maxine Sleep, who, along with her husband Kevin, runs an alpaca farm at Lake Boga.

They will bring a wide range of felted toys, clothing, scarves, and other felted products.

Visitors can also learn how to knit left-handed with Ray Eagles, make a basket from fabric scraps with Faye Smith and make silk paper from silk fibres with Nina Gould.

The Men’s shed will be demonstrating and selling wooden crafts, and Wal Ferguson will be demonstrating his free-motion machine sewing skills (not sewing) with his mentor, Alice Gove, from Mildura.

Mary Graetz from Rainbow will be displaying and selling her restyled denim jackets, and Viv Mitchell & Collie Cartwright from Woomelang will be selling their fabric crafts.

The Red Caboose coffee van, with Prue McCreddon from Beulah, will have delicious Devonshire teas and her coffee ready for visitors.

The Power House programming committee hope to see you there.

Remember that most market stalls are cash-only, and we would appreciate a small donation for entry.
