Man charged after alleged firearms incident

A 35-year-old Horsham man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering a person, criminal damage, theft of a motor vehicle, use of a firearm to resist arrest, and firearm and weapons offences after an alleged incident on Friday January 10 in Horsham.

Emergency services responded to an incident in Stawell Road, Horsham, just before 9am in which the man had allegedly driven his vehicle into a house.

A 27-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman who were home at the time were not injured.

They are believed to be known to the alleged offender.

The driver was reportedly seen with a firearm before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police allege he then stole a car and drove to a residential property in Hickson Street, Horsham.

When police arrived at that house, the man allegedly threatened them with a firearm.

He was arrested around 11.30pm.

The man was remanded to appear at Horsham Magistrates' Court on Monday.
