Minyip’s Dunmunkle Lodge has received four new on-site staff accommodation units, providing invaluable housing for new and existing employees.
Dunmunkle Lodge chief executive Susan Boyd underlined the hardships of recruiting staff in the Wimmera.
“One of the biggest problems we have in rural remote areas is accommodation for staff; so we can hire the staff, but often we can’t accommodate them,” she said.
The units have been in planning since the beginning of 2025, with successful funding through the Department of Social Services Community Grants Hub.
The two two-bedroom units are earmarked as short-term accommodation for staff while they look for something to rent or buy, and the remaining two one-bedroom units will benefit staff who work late nights and early mornings.
The units were on site on Wednesday, September 2, and craned into position on their footings on Thursday, September 10.
