Morning tea raises $300
Hopetoun and District Neighbourhood House hosted Australia's Biggest Morning Tea on Tuesday, May 5, raising $300 for Cancer Council.
Ten local ladies attended the event, which brought the community together for food, coffee, tea, games, prizes and a raffle, while supporting people impacted by cancer.
The total amount raised included a $100 donation from the Men's Shed.
Community members also donated food and money, including some who were unable to attend on the day.
Noreen Bellinger won the raffle, while Marilyn Clancy won the teapot game.
Organiser and Hopetoun and District Neighbourhood House manager Erin Paech said the event brought attendees together for an important cause.
"Great day for the ladies to get together and talk about how cancer has affected us all," she said.
"Thank you to the people who have donated, as they couldn't make it on the day."
All funds raised from the event will go towards Cancer Council's work supporting people affected by cancer and helping create a cancer-free future.
The morning tea also highlighted the importance of small community gatherings in raising awareness and support for major health causes.
Attendees shared homemade treats, took part in activities, and enjoyed the chance to connect with others in a relaxed, supportive setting.
One of the attendees, Joyce Bellinger, said, "Great to have it here in our town, as we love to support these types of fundraising events."
