After just three weeks of construction, the new shelter will protect users from all weather conditions and will become an additional learning space for students across all three schools: Warracknabeal Secondary College (WSC), Warracknabeal Primary School and Warracknabeal Special Developmental School.

WSC principal Casey Phelan said this project had been in the planning for several months.

"It has been amazing to observe the daily progress over the past three weeks and how quickly it all became a reality," Ms Phelan said.

"The co-ordination of four cranes and the incredible engineering as it was lifted into place was a most unique spectacle."

The area, which is now fully operational, is utilised by a majority of students, many playing basketball or netball and others watching on from the sidelines.

"This is a most worthwhile investment in education in Warracknabeal and will be enjoyed by many generations to come," Ms Phelan said.

"Our students are incredibly eager to use the area and, like most, are amazed at the vast structure we have created."

Ms Phelan said the next target would be re-working the ovals, with topsoil and an improved sprinkler system being installed.

"In addition we're planning further landscaping to improve the surrounds of the basketball courts and ovals," she said.

"This will include gardens, grass, seating, a walking and bike track and a long jump track.

"The south side of the precinct was always going to need additional landscaping and development once the building works were complete."

The three schools have been working together to create a more engaging environment for students to learn in.

"We're very proud of the precinct and its facilities and are excited about the planned future developments," Ms Phelan said.
