Lilly, Chantelle, and Nekeisha run the ‘Rainbow Grab n Go’ van at school from 10.30am to midday for students and the local community.

The initiative helps them gain real-world experience while completing their barista course and contributing to class fundraising.

“We’re doing hot drinks, iced drinks, hot chocolates, baked items and some foods,” Lilly said.

“We just do it to benefit our skills so we can use them when we graduate from high school.

"We’ve had pretty good outcomes, especially with our ice drinks, and lots of new followers on our social media pages.”

The coffee van, which has been passed down from previous students, is now seeing a modern revamp thanks to this year’s team.

The money goes towards school projects or supplies for the van itself.

Chantelle said working the van had boosted her confidence and coffee-making skills.

“I developed more knowledge on how to make different coffees, iced coffees and all that,” she said.

“I’m still working on my customer skills and getting more confident.”

She encouraged locals to stop by for a drink: "Come grab a coffee, sit down  it’s pretty chill.”

The students will continue to run the van each Tuesday until the end of the school year.
