Cr Zanker said that after taking the affirmation of office on October 28, all six completed three days of mandatory councillor training as required by state legislation.

Addressing Yarriambiack Shire's monthly meeting last Wednesday, she said "a lot" had happened both while the previous council was in caretaker mode before and during the local government election and since the new council was sworn in.

"The Warracknabeal Caravan Park amenities block has been completed and it looks fantastic," Cr Zanker said, adding that in the lead-up to Christmas she was sure it would be appreciated by holiday-makers visiting this year.

She said Warracknabeal Playgroup had found a home in the Warracknabeal Library, "so after discussion with their president Natalia Hewitt and other committee members in conjunction with Sarah Collins, our manager of community strengthening and engagement, the opportunity to co-locate the library and share the space was met with much excitement".

Cr Zanker said the move would allow the playgroup to access the library and other associated areas.

"The shared space is a fantastic way to look at a multi-generational, multi-use facility while extending the literacy and library functions across our community," she said.

Landscaping of the Warracknabeal Kindergarten carpark was close to completion, Cr Zanker added.

She said stage two works on Dunmunckle Library were "coming along well" and were due to be finished by January 10 next year.

Contracts for the construction of affordable houses in Rupanyup, Hopetoun and Warracknabeal had all been signed and building permits had been issued for the first two, Cr Zanker said, and a permit for Warracknabeal would follow soon.

"The community will see some action on these sites shortly," she said.
