The Lake Marma Committee secured $80,000 in funding to bring the project to life, ensuring that fishing at the lake is more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

The modern pontoon will include wheelchair-accessible seating and rod holders, providing a stable and comfortable fishing experience regardless of water levels.

Lake Marma Committee president Rod Delahunty said the improvements will be a great addition to the lake’s growing amenities.

“The new pontoon will give locals and visitors a better fishing experience with updated facilities,” he said.

“It’s going in front of the caravan park marking it easier for everyone to access and enjoy.”

The committee expects the project to be completed by the end of May and sees it as another step toward making Lake Marma a more inclusive and vibrant space for the community.

Looking ahead, the committee is also working on securing for a children’s water playground on the western side of the lake.

“The Murtoa community have always been a great support helping on a lot of occasions,” Mr Delahunty said.

“I’m just happy for them to enjoy another asset at Lake Marma.

“We want to keep improving the lake area, and we welcome any feedback, good or bad, on how we can make it even better.”

The Lake Marma Committee is also encouraging new members to join, especially younger residents who can bring fresh ideas and perspectives on the town’s future.

“We are always looking for new members on our committee, especially young ones giving new fresh aspects and ideas,” he said.
