Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora visited Hindmarsh Shire Council to celebrate the launch of Dimboola Primary School Kindergarten and Nhill College Kindergarten.

Both projects are funded by the state government, with Dimboola Primary School Kindergarten benefiting through the Best Start, Best Life Kindergarten on a School Site program and Nhill Kindergarten receiving funding from the Building Blocks Capacity Grant program.

Emerge Early Years Service, which operates both kindergartens on behalf of Hindmarsh Shire Council has created welcoming spaces for local families.

Each facility provides 33 licensed places and offers 20 hours of sessional kindergarten per week.

Dimboola space has 23 kids enrolled across the week, while Nhill facility has 25, with several slots still available.

Emerge Early Years Service chief executive officer Elicia Napoli highlighted the benefits of the new facilities.

“We offer play-based learning opportunities with different models to support families and children,” she said.

“Our sessional kindergarten program works closely with nearby school, ensuring a smooth transition through regular school visits and shared facility use.

“We also provide integrated kindergarten in existing facilities, which combines kindergarten and long day care.”

Hindmarsh Shire Council deputy mayor Chan Uoy sheds light on the significance of the new kindergartens for the community.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for the entire communities of Dimboola and Nhill, as we open the doors to facilities where the future begins for our youngest residents,” he said.

“The new facilities will be places where young minds will be nurtured, curiosity will be encouraged, and lifelong learning will begin.”

Both kindergartens are now open, providing high-quality early childhood education for children aged three to six years in Dimboola and Nhill.
