Rainbow's newest tourist attraction is drawing visitors to the northern Wimmera Mallee, combining large-scale public art with an innovative viewing experience inside a former grain silo.

Completed in September 2025, the exterior mural by Geoffrey Carran features a towering Euphorbia trigona cactus and a Mallee emu-wren.

An illuminated floral installation by Collide Public Art transforms the silo's interior.

The attraction opened to visitors in December 2025 and welcomed almost 4000 people during its first six months, according to Hindmarsh Shire Council.

Google Trends data shows Australian search interest in "Victorian silo art trail" has been intermittent during the past five years, with isolated peaks around 2022 and 2024.

Searches for "silo art calendar" recorded several more pronounced peaks during 2021-2023, while interest in the broader topic of "Victoria road trip" was concentrated in the earlier part of the five years.

The findings provide a snapshot of online interest in regional travel subjects but do not specifically measure searches for Rainbow Silo Art.

The Brim Silo Art was the first silo to be painted in Victoria in 2016, and was the third set of silos to join the Australian Silo Art Trail.

Since the completion of Brim's mural in 2016, the Australian Silo Art Trail has expanded to include 38 Victorian entries and 78 nationally, according to its listing through March 2026.

From Rutherglen near the NSW border to Walpeup in the Mallee, the artworks provide visitors with opportunities to explore regional towns and their communities.

Rainbow's addition to the trail shows how former grain infrastructure can be transformed into a tourist attraction combining public art with a distinctive visitor experience.

Touring Australia's largest outdoor gallery is not just the perfect adventure for art enthusiasts but also a great way to see what Victoria's regional towns offer.
