New push to curb growing feral deer threat

A new 14-month trial is set to strengthen monitoring and the control of feral deer across the Upper Wimmera and Upper Hopkins catchments. On August 11, 2026, Project Platypus Landcare Network launched the Grampians-Gariwerd Deer Coordinator Trial to improve regional monitoring and strengthen the response to the growing feral deer population.
