A Mum's World: October seventh
One of my fabulous neighbours has been working on a request for the addition of a stretch of footpath to connect our street to other walkways.

Running beside a very busy road used by residents and industry in the town, the path is necessary for safe passage of walkers, joggers and riders of bikes, gophers and wheelchairs.
A five-year project so far, this week our leader reached the step of gathering the surrounding community for a meeting.
On a gorgeous Spring morning, we all wandered, rode or drove from our homes to the corner of the street to chat with our rural city council representatives.
It was so beautiful to hear everyone share their concerns, hopes and dreams about ensuring our little corner of the world is safe for all the people in it to thrive.
Dedicated and doting grandparents emphasised pram safety while a toddler on a balance bike wobbled back and forth between mum and dad.
Young couples hoped for the future while school kids patted the panting dog, and the preppy was bored from the start with talk of widths and surfaces.
Naturally, all teenagers in the street were still at home in bed.
It was peaceful and respectful and kind, a small slice of our country pointing out a need that will benefit all, as we pull together as a society.
It was idyllic, but I couldn’t help imagining what it would be like if this group of innocent citizens was suddenly attacked and overwhelmed by a hateful enemy.
How terrifying.
Thank goodness we live in Australia and not Israel.
On this day two years ago today, Israeli towns filled with families like ours were surrounded and condemned to death because of their birth – they were guilty of being born Jews.
Hamas barbarically tortured, maimed, raped and murdered peaceful unsuspecting community members just like us, in and around their homes.
The invaders actions were documented with body cameras, and they are too horrific for me to grasp – I don’t want to know what I know.
Grandparents were taken hostage, families were forced to watch each other killed, it is way too much. Pure evil.
The murderers were celebrated and rewarded financially for their brutality. Incomprehensible.
Most of the innocent hostages taken have since been killed, while some are barely alive, still being starved and tortured in tunnels two years later.
I hope if it was our street attacked and my neighbours killed, maimed or taken, my elected government would defend the rest of our community, ensuring it could never happen again.
Sadly, I feel as though our federal representatives have rewarded the Jew hating killers with recognition of a state of their own, which they already had, but didn’t want.
They want to annihilate a race of people rather than live beside them as they did.
It's hard to believe that after growing up learning about the unbelievable horror of the Holocaust, I am living through the fact that “Never Again”, is now.
Choosing kindness matters.
