Former and present Hopetoun and Beulah residents were thrilled to catch up and reminisce at the towns' 65th reunion at Invermay Park on Sunday March 3.

And while numbers have diminished over the past few years, everyone was welcomed with open arms.

The reunion first started in the gardens in Melbourne and many years later were relocated to Ballarat to be more central. Various venues have been used in Ballarat over the years.

Just after lunch, the annual meeting of the Hopetoun/Beulah Reunion Committee was held, and all the office bearers were voted back for another 12 months.

The committee is chairperson Cath Taylor, secretary/treasurer Steve Haynes and committee members Phonse Liddle, Lynne De Giovanni and Joy Weightman.

A proposal to hold the 2025 reunion at Hopetoun was put to a vote among the 48 attendees and it was unanimously decided to go ahead with the change for next year.

There is a lot of work for the committee to follow up on for this to eventuate, but it will again be held on the first Sunday in March.

Hopetoun Historical Society also is considering holding a Back to Hopetoun event, so the reunion committee will collaborate with them to get the very best results for the town and its former and current residents.

The fabulous photos and articles in their archives have always offered an enjoyable trip down memory lane.

A highlight of the reunion was guest speaker Adam McNicol, author of many books, including “The Mallee”.

Adam was born and educated at Manangatang, and had so many stories about our beautiful Mallee and its people. His books were available on the day and are also available in each of the Mallee towns.

The committee will advise throughout the year of the progress of the 2025 reunion and looks forward to enjoying everyone's company again next year.
