Our communities remember...
Commemorative services, marches and shared meals are once more being hosted by communities across the Wimmera Mallee to mark Anzac Day this Friday April 25.

APSLEY/LANGKOOP
10.45am: Assemble at Apsley War Memorial for 11am march to town hall.
11.15am: Service at Apsley Town Hall.
BRIM
8.45am: Assemble at Brim Memorial Hall for 9am service, with guest speaker.
DERGHOLM
6am: Dawn service at Soldiers Memorial Hall, Dergholm, followed by gunfire breakfast.
DIMBOOLA
6.15am: Dawn service, Dimboola Memorial Secondary College, followed by free gunfire breakfast served by school community – all welcome.
8.30am: Short march from Dimboola Memorial Secondary College gates in Ellerman Street followed by wreath-laying ceremony.
9am: ANZAC commemoration service in Dimboola Memorial Secondary College Assembly Hall. Morning tea follows at Dimboola RSL Hall, Lloyd Street, Dimboola. All welcome.
EDENHOPE
10.30am: Service at Cenotaph. (Moose’s Breakfast cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.) Groups or family members of veterans wishing to lay wreaths can contact Malcolm Hunting 0428 352 705.
GOROKE
9.45am: Assemble at Goroke Police Station for march preparation.
10am: March to Goroke Memorial Square, followed by commemorative service at Goroke Memorial Hall, wreath- and cross-laying and guest speaker Joseph Colley, former captain Royal Australian Engineers and former Goroke student and 2010 school captain. Morning tea follows (take a plate to share). Display of memorabilia in Goroke Memorial Hall.
HARROW
10.30am: Ecumenical service at Harrow RSL Hall.
11am: March of veterans and RSL members, with piper Andrew Teusner, from Harrow Bush Nursing Centre, 50 Blair Street, Harrow. Wreath-laying, guest speaker David Hobbs, The Last Post, Reveille and the national anthem follow. Morning tea at hall, Blair Street, for $10 or donation.
HOPETOUN
10:30am: Shire of Ravensthorpe march from Jim McCulloch Park up Veal Street to Hopetoun & District War Memorial. Veterans and community members welcome to join the march.
11am: Service at Hopetoun & District War Memorial followed by morning tea.
HORSHAM
6.15am: Dawn service at Horsham and District War Memorial, Sawyer Park, 1 Hocking Street, Horsham, followed by breakfast at Horsham RSL Sub-branch.
10am: March from McLachlan Street Horsham and District War Memorial, Sawyer Park.
JEPARIT
6am: Service at Jeparit War Memorial, Broadway, Memorial Avenue, Jeparit
11am: Service at Jeparit Memorial Hall, 12 Roy Street, Jeparit, followed immediately by march stepping off from same location. Barbecue follows for members, families and friends at Jeparit RSL Sub-branch, Roy Street, Jeparit.
KANIVA
10.30am: Assemble at Band Park, RSL Cenotaph.
11am: Commemorative service. Families of veterans wishing to lay wreaths can contact Ross McFarlane 0408 922 374.
1pm: Service, followed by Kaniva versus Edenhope-Apsley football and netball games from 1.30pm
MINYIP
9.30am: Assembly at Minyip Memorial Gates for march, wreath-laying ceremony and service at Town Square
MURTOA
6.30am: Assemble in forecourt for 7am service at Murtoa Memorial Arch, Murtoa.
NATIMUK
11am: Service at Natimuk Band Rotunda, including wreath-laying and musical accompaniment.
NHILL
6.15am: Dawn service at Tribute to the Fallen (Cenotaph), Victoria Street, Nhill. Barbecue breakfast provided by Rotary Club of Nhill follows at Soldiers’ Lounge, Nhill, for gold coin donation towards PTSD research.
10.15am: March steps off from Hindmarsh Visitor Information Centre, Victoria Street, Nhill, travelling to Tribute to the Fallen for wreath-laying at 10.30am.
11am: Remembrance service at Tribute to the Fallen (Cenotaph), Victoria Street, Nhill, with guest speaker Jim Richardson on peacekeeping in East Timor.
RAINBOW
6.30am: Assemble at Rainbow Cenotaph for dawn service. Special commemoration of the 19 local servicemen who gave their lives in World War II, which ended 80 years ago on September 2 1945. All welcome.
9.45am: Assemble at Rainbow Cenotaph for wreath-laying, followed by morning service in the Mecca. Guest speaker former SAS officer Ryan Leffler. All welcome.
RUPANYUP
9.45am: Assemble for march.
10am: Service at The Billabong, with Horsham City Pipe Band. Morning tea at museum follows for members and guests.
SHEEP HILLS
6.45am: March from Boolite Road corner, followed by 7am wreath-laying at Cenotaph and service in Sheep Hills Hall with guest speaker.
WARRACKNABEAL
10.30am: March to ANZAC Park, Warracknabeal, for wreath-laying and service.
WOOMELANG
9am: Service at Woomelang Memorial Hall, Woomelang.
