P-12 College celebrates stage one redevelopment
Rainbow P-12 College marked a significant milestone on Wednesday, April 23, with a well-attended soft launch celebrating the completion of Stage One of its redevelopment project.

The morning began with a community breakfast, followed by speeches from the school captains and principal Colleen Petschel, who shared the story behind the building works and acknowledged the support of past students, teachers, and community members.
“It was really great to see so many members of the community, past teachers, students, venturing out,” Ms Petschel said.
Stage One includes a new science and STEM wing, the refurbishment of the school’s heritage building into a modern administration area, and a new senior arts space.
Student-led tours allowed visitors to explore the upgraded facilities first-hand.
Ms Petschel said the impact of the upgrades was already evident.
"The first thing we’ve noticed is it’s a lot calmer and quieter, with double-glazed glass throughout,” she said.
“The modern facilities and dedicated informal spaces for Years 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 are already providing a really positive learning environment for the kids.”
Wednesday’s event was a celebration of the completed Stage One. A formal opening will be held after Stage Two is finished.
Stage Two will see the demolition of the old hall to make way for a music and media room, a new canteen, toilets, showers, a sports shed, a covered outdoor learning area, and a roofed basketball court.
Ms Petschel said the project is currently slated for completion in January 2026, but they are confident it could be finished by the end of this year.
“We’re seriously happy that Stage One is out of the way – it’s been a long time coming, but it’s definitely been worth the wait,” she said.
Ms Petschel also thanked the local community for its continued support throughout the redevelopment journey.
“It was just great to see so many being able to celebrate with us,” she said.
“The school’s really thankful for the community’s support through every stage of the project.”
