Pearson knockout starts
Twenty-five men played golf on Saturday in the Greg and Julie Pearson Knockout stableford event.
I believe that the top eight scores continue on in a knockout format over the next few weeks. This was held in conjunction with a stableford sponsored by Brenton Cheney and Wayne Henderson.
Russell Schultz (hcp 14) took out A Grade with 34 points. Runner-up was Ash Purdue (7) with 32 points.
B Division winner was Richie Bett (18) with 38 points (great score) and runner-up on a countback was Wayne George (19) with 36 points.
Other good scores on ther day were Derek Picken (28) on 36 points, Karter Nitschke (33) with 35 points and David Flannery (21) on 34 points.
I believe that this possibly could have been Karter’s first competition, if that is correct, well done Karter. Lots of practice with “Pa” Laycock would have certainly been a bonus.
Ladies winner was Mary Massey (30) with 35 points. Runner-up was Karen Germano (20) with 32 points.
Nearest the pin fifth hole was Karen Germano, closest on the seventh hole was Ash Purdue and on the 13th hole was Mark Lovett.
The Palace Hotel Meal Run last Thursday was won on the front nine holes by Derek Picken with 20 point. Runner-up was Dennis Murphy with points.
Back nine holes winner was Derek Picken with 19 points beating Kym Stepney on a countback. Overall winner was Derek Picken with 39 points.
Nearest the pins were Geoff Smith on the seventh hole and Gary Krahe on the 13th hole.
Tomorrow’s men's event will be a 4BBB stableford multiplier.
