UPDATE: Teen arrested after remains found in Donald

A large-scale search was carried out in bushland west of Byrne Street after she was reported missing.

The 13-year-old was last seen on McCracken Street in Donald on July 4 and has not been seen or heard from since.

The Donald teen was reported missing the following day.

Local police and specialist officers from the Dog Squad, Air Wing, and Search and Rescue Squad participated in the search, which led to the discovery of the remains late Thursday afternoon.

Although the remains have not been formally identified, they are believed to be those of the missing girl.

A warrant was executed at a residential property in Donald shortly after 11 am on July 10 as part of the investigation.

The investigation into the circumstances of the girl's death is ongoing, and police are currently treating it as suspicious.
