Playing against St Mary’s on Saturday November 22, Puls trapped Nathan Priest leg before wicket in the third over of the day to bring up the milestone.

Puls said he was pleased to achieve the feat but put greater weight on still being able to play cricket, especially alongside his son Tyler and the other youngsters coming through the club.

“I suppose it's like any sport you play, you play long enough and you come across these milestones and things like that,” Puls said.

“The boys had been telling me for a while that I was getting close.

“It's good to get these things, but it's just good to be still playing cricket, especially the top grade.

“I'm enjoying playing with Tyler, enjoying playing with all the group still, and we've got some good kids coming through.

“But it is nice to get.”

Puls’ achievements for the club date back to the 1988-89 season when he first played in B grade before making his way into A grade, where he has remained for the majority of his career.

“I started when I was 15 with a couple of young friends who went and played with Horsham and I thought ‘I could do this’, so I started playing B grade and enjoyed it,” Puls said.

“I started to do alright and worked my way up to A grade, and that’s pretty much where I’ve stayed.”

While 750 wickets in a career is impressive for any player, Puls has some remarkable statistics and performances to match his milestone.

Following round six, Puls has reached 751 wickets across 403 matches at an average of 16.48, making him the leading all-time wicket taker for the Horsham Tigers.

Across the 403 matches, Puls has produced 33 five-wicket hauls, including a career-best performance of 9/24 during the 2012-13 season.

Puls’ longevity is demonstrated by the various iterations the Tigers have had over the years.

“We've had a couple of combined clubs over the years,” Puls said.

“I started way back with Horsham, then I went to Pimpinio, before we amalgamated with Horsham a few years later where we became the Horsham Tigers for a little while.

“We then went to Jung and became the Jung Tigers, and then recently we've just gone back to Horsham Tigers.

“It all falls under the one club.”

Despite the accomplished career, Puls has been unable to win a top-grade premiership in his time with the club.

“It's been a good journey; I haven’t achieved the ultimate success but that's the way it goes,” Puls said.

“It would be good to say I've got one but that's what it is.”
