Attendees were treated to a delicious two-course meal, which included cold meats, a variety of fresh salads, and the crowd-pleasing pavlova for dessert. Teresa Gould, who coordinated the catering, expressed her thanks to all those who contributed to the meal, including those who helped with washing dishes and working behind the bar.

In addition to the tasty food, the event featured a number of special touches. Marg Krelle provided the beautiful floral arrangements, while Lynne McKenzie and Lynette Helyar were in charge of the sweeps. Jennifer Greig played a key role in judging the winners of the fashion stakes.

Just before the much-anticipated Melbourne Cup race, the titles for the day’s most stylish attendees were announced. Heather Drendel was named Lady of the Day, while Helen Fisher won the award for the Best Fascinator. Darron Cook was recognised as the Best Dressed Man.

The event also featured a raffle, with the lucky winners being Katherine Gosling and Jan Fisher.

Thanks to the generous support of attendees and the hard work of volunteers, the luncheon raised much-needed funds for the club, ensuring the continued success of the Rainbow Bowling Club.

A great time was had by all, with laughter, good food, and the thrill of the Melbourne Cup race making for a memorable day.
