Rainbow gearing up for annual show
Rainbow is gearing up for its 113th Annual Show, set to take place on Tuesday, October 14, at the Rainbow Recreation Reserve.
Rainbow A&P Society secretary Norelle Eckermann said the day will feature the usual mix of activities and exhibits that locals look forward to each year.
“It’s the 113th annual show — we’ve got the usual pavilion of exhibits, a shearing demonstration, tractor show, animal nursery, and horse carriage rides for everybody,” she said.
“There’ll also be various other bits and pieces of entertainment throughout the day.”
While the event will follow a familiar format, Eckermann said it remains a highlight on Rainbow’s community calendar.
“Nothing too different — very similar to last year,” she said.
“All the kids’ exhibits in the pavilion are always wonderful to see.”
The pavilion will open in the morning, with most visitors expected to arrive around lunchtime.
A smorgasbord lunch will be available from 12pm, the official opening and showgirl event will begin at 2pm, and the grand parade is expected around 3.30pm.
The show will wrap up at about 5pm, with pavilion items available for collection from that time.
Although Hopetoun residents are unlikely to attend in large numbers, as it’s a working day and not a public holiday there, Ms Eckermann said the day promises to be another enjoyable community celebration.
“Come along and enjoy the day,” she said.
The Rainbow Neighbourhood House and Learning Centre's manager, Melissa Powell, will also run a pop-up stall at the Rainbow Show to help people with their new Power Saving Bonus.
The committee will accept photo entries on Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10, by 5pm.
