Rainbow morning tea supports cancer council
Rainbow’s Biggest Morning Tea returns this month, with the community once again gathering to raise vital funds for the Cancer Council.

The long-running event was left without a host when the local Auxiliary of the Fire Brigade closed in 2024.
The Southern Mallee Co-Operative Church stepped up to take the lead.
The church approached the Rainbow Neighbourhood House and Learning Group, which immediately accepted the invitation to partner.
“This began a partnership that is now in its second year,” said one of the organisers, Susan Pearse.
Last year, 40 to 50 people attended the event, shared morning tea, joined in table quizzes, listened to a guest speaker from Rural Northwest Health, and caught up with friends.
Organisers have planned a similar format this year, including morning tea, puzzles, and stories from community members who have overcome cancer and now live whole, active lives.
“This is a community event, and everyone is welcome no matter what age or stage; cancer does not discriminate, and the funds raised work towards beating this condition,” she said.
Guests can donate at the door, with all proceeds supporting the Cancer Council.
The event will run from 10am to noon tomorrow, Thursday May 29, at the Southern Mallee Co-Operative Parish Church Hall, on 24 King Street, Rainbow.
