Rainbow Silo tower installation underway
The first section of the tower for the new tourism development of the Llew Schilling Silo in Rainbow was installed by contractors earlier last week, on Monday, July 21.

In the next stage, an elevator will be installed inside the tower, taking visitors to the top of the Silo where they can admire the Mallee landscape or peer inside the eastern silo bin from a platform.
There will also be a platform providing mid-level access to the western silo bin, which will be home to what is possibly Australia’s first internal Silo Art display.
A staircase is also to be constructed around the elevator, and the next task for contractors is to install the stairs around the first section of the tower before a crane lifts the following section into place.
The project has been funded by the Victorian Government’s Tourism Infrastructure Program - Flagship Projects and also the Hindmarsh Shire Council.
