The best of the Wimmera is heading to national television, with Channel 9 TV show Postcards visiting local attractions, producers and towns for an episode airing Sunday, June 28.

Host Kris Smith explored some of the region’s best attractions, food, and drink while meeting many iconic characters along the way.

The multi-day visit was part of Grampian Wimmera Mallee Tourism’s launch of the FEELS LIKE campaign.

“The work we’re doing to raise the profile of the Grampians Wimmera Mallee is about real, long-term outcomes for our communities and operators,” chief executive Marc Sleeman said.

“The national recognition this region has been receiving tells us the work is landing - and Postcards gives us another opportunity to put this extraordinary part of Victoria in front of people who haven’t discovered it yet.”

Mr Smith and the crew visited the Horsham Golf Club, Laharum’s Rosehaven Farms and Norton Estate.

The fun continued with a trip to Pink Lake and a luncheon at the Dimboola Riverside Holiday Park.

The holiday wrapped up at the Woods Heritage Museum in Rupanyup.

Neil Davenport of Dimboola’s Big Bertha said the luncheon was a great way to highlight the Wimmera’s high-quality produce and supplies.

“There was a spread of locally made food, including pork and vegetarian dumplings with Davidson's Plum, pepperberry, and ginger,” he said.

“He also sampled a lemon myrtle chickpea cake with strawberry guava gel.”

“It was all about showcasing the produce, sustainably grown in the region.”

While Mr Smith was enjoying the best of the Wimmera, his co-host, Livinia Nixon, meandered through the Southern and Central Grampians, visiting several locations, including Hamilton, Dunkeld, Pomonal, Great Western and Ararat.

The episode will air nationally on Sunday, June 28, with replays on 9Life the following week.

“This episode is another powerful channel in what has been a sustained and deliberate effort to tell the story of this region to new audiences,” GWMT marketing manager Georgia Bennett said.

“A huge thank you to all of the operators and local shires who opened their doors for the crew this week.

“They’re the reason this region is worth watching.”
