Renegades, Tigers produce wins

The Horsham Tigers and Dunmunkle Renegades under-16 teams notched up wins in round four of the Horsham Cricket Association junior competition.

The Horsham Tigers and Dunmunkle Renegades under-16 teams notched up wins in round four of the Horsham Cricket Association junior competition. 

In the under-14s, the Bullants continued their undefeated start to the season, while the Renegades and the West Wimmera Warriors also claimed victories. 

The under-16s played on Friday, November 14, where the Horsham Tigers hosted the Horsham Saints at Dimboola Road Oval. 

The Saints won the toss and elected to bat, reaching 8/63 from their 22 overs. 

Hunter Schmidt (24) and Alan Kuriakose (17) led the Saints’ batting performance, while Bailey Dridan (2/7), Cody Stewart (1/0) and Archie Knight (1/2) led the way with the ball for the Tigers. 

In response, the home side scored 3/95 in the 18th over to claim the win, with Archie Knight (31 retired not out) and Anderson Brown (20 retired not out) the top scorers. 

Jack Crute (1/4), Thomas Wade (1/7) and Liam Carracher (1/11) were the wicket takers for the Saints.  

At Murtoa Recreation Reserve, Homers elected to bowl against the Dunmunkle Renegades, where the home side totalled 6/126.

Jake McKenzie retired not out on 51, while Ryder Hudson scored 28. 

For Homers, Jack Arnel (2/15) and Finn Arnel (2/24) led the way with the ball. 

Missing players, Homers were bowled out in the 10th over at 7/29. 

Phoenix Hopper top-scored with 11, while Ryder Hudson (2/4), Jake McKenzie (1/3) and Thomas Bolger (1/3) were standouts in the Renegades’ bowling performance to help their side win.

Playing at Dimboola Recreation Reserve, the Bullants elected to bat against the Blackheath Dimboola Bulls.

Openers Jack Combe (retired 50 not out off 35 balls) and Chase Whelan (retired 50 not out off 36 balls) set up the innings as the Bullants reached 5/146 from the 22 overs. 

For the Bulls, Lenny Eldridge (2/11) and Charlie Taylor (2/12) produced key wickets late in the innings. 

In response, the Bulls were 5/50 after 15 overs when play was suspended due to the conditions, ending in a no result. 

Albert Schorback (12), Dane Paech (10) and Charlie Taylor (10 not out) had led the Bulls’ innings before the stoppage, while Chase Whelan (1/6), Isaac Thomnas (1/6) and Jeremy Fischer (1/9) took wickets for the Bullants. 

In the under-14s, the Renegades hosted the Saints at Minyip Recreation Reserve, where the visitors elected to bowl first.  

The home side dominated with the bat, scoring 6/170 off 20 overs, with Braxton Starick hitting 25 not out, while Willicam McCurdy (23), Jagger Williams (20) and Judd Thomson (19) all retired not out in the impressive batting display. 

Cooper Rentsch led the Saints bowlers with figures of 3/15, while Jack Sawyer (1/6) and Chaz Schmidt (1/9) provided economical overs.

The Saints then finished with 8/58 in their innings, led by Sawyer’s 11 not out. 

Judd Thomson led the bowling effort with figures of 2/3, well supported by William McCurdy (1/3) and Brodie Mathews (1/4), as the Renegades finished with the 112-run win. 

At David Park in Nhill, West Wimmera elected to bowl against the Blackheath Dimboola Bulls. 

The visitors reached 3/112 from the 20 overs, with Edward Schorback (22 retired not out), Logan Hauselberger (18 retired not out) and Oliver Cook (15 retired not out) leading the way for the Bulls. 

Tom Warner and Hendrix Clugston were the pick of the Warriors’ bowlers, finishing with figures of 1/3 and 1/6, respectively. 

Despite some early wickets, the Warriors prevailed, finishing with 4/130 from their 20 overs. 

Cooper Cramer (22 retired not out) and Clayton Hiscock (20 retired not out) played key innings in the win, while Archie Ward (2/18) and Edward Schorback (1/26) took the wickets for the Bulls. 

At Dimboola Road Oval, the Tigers elected to bowl against the Bullants, who reached 3/127. 

Six players reached double figures and five retired not out in the all-round team batting performance, led by Judd Oakley (23), Thomas Combe (17) and Milton Ellis (16).

Peter Smith (1/11) and Lenny Carter (1/12) were the pick of the Tigers’ bowlers. 

The Tigers would then score 6/69 in their innings, led by Tex Askew, Arckie Mackley and Lenny Carter, who all reached 13 not out.

Zavier Lang (1/0), Jack Arnel (1/4) and Thomas Combe (1/5) helped secure the Bullants’ victory.
